It's simple. Annual commission (typically 0.5%) is generally deducted from your investments by the fund managers and paid to your financial adviser to cover the cost of providing you with ongoing information and services.
This commission cannot be avoided and the fund managers won't pay it back to you, even if you don't have a financial adviser or feel that you don't get a good, ongoing service from your adviser.
